Sailing Lives Here
The Pancyprian Athletic Association of Small Boat Owners operates their own School of Sailing and Navigation, which in 2011 has been certified by the American Sailing Association to present their ASA programmes awarding the successful students the respective ASA certificates.
Further to the subjects covered by the ASA, the programme gives emphasis to specific subjects which specifically apply to the Mediterranean area conditions, to regulations that apply to Europe and to subjects or issues which through the experience of the School’s members are considered to require special attention.
Powerboat License Training
Our Club organizes training sessions for its Club Members to acquire a license to operate a powerboat. Such an operator license is required by our Club Members who intend to operate any mechanically propelled vessel of a length not exceeding fifteen (15) meters which can attain a speed of at least fifteen (15) knots, including jet skis.
THE PASIMIS EXPERIENCE
It is a principle of the School to give to the students and members the opportunity to acquire experiences. The main event is the week-long annual flotilla to the Greek islands in May during which participants are exposed to very valuable experiences which are considered to be part of the programme.
The club also gives the opportunity to its qualified members participate in the two racing teams through which they not only get further sailing experience but also learn the tricks of competitive sailing. The club takes part with its 42-feet sloop yacht and its J80 class boat in various official competitions in Cyprus between June and September.
